Ingredients for homemade speculaas granola:

  • A large mixing bowl
  • A baking dish or baking sheet
  • Oven

Ingredients for homemade speculaas granola:

  • 200 grams of coarse oatmeal flakes
  • 200 grams of unsalted unroasted mixed nuts (e.g. almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts)
  • 75 grams of pumpkin seeds
  • 75 grams of sunflower seeds
  • 1 scoop of protein powder (vanilla flavour)
  • 3 tablespoons of honey
  • 3 tablespoons of coconut oil or sunflower oil
  • 2 tablespoons of cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of gingerbread and biscuit spices
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla flavouring

Optional for homemade speculaas granola:

  • Finely chopped speculaas

 

Preparation for homemade speculaas granola:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 160 degrees Celsius so that it is at the right temperature when you bake the granola.
  2. Chop and mix the nuts: Chop the unsalted nut mix into smaller pieces. Then place all the ingredients, except the speculaas, in a large mixing bowl and mix well.
  3. Bake the granola: Line a baking sheet with baking paper and spread the mixture evenly over the sheet. Make sure the granola is spread in a thin layer for an even and crunchy texture. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the granola for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  4. Adding speculaas (optional): If you want to add an extra festive touch, add finely chopped speculaas pieces to the cooled granola after baking.
  5. Store and enjoy: Let the granola cool completely before storing in airtight containers. Serve the granola as a crunchy and nutritious breakfast, add it to yogurt or cottage cheese, or simply enjoy it as a healthy snack throughout the day.
