What is mobility and how do you improve it?
What is mobility and how do you improve it? Mobility is about moving the body. It is the size of the movements you can make with your joints in a safe way. Those movements are limited by the surrounding tissues such as; tendons, muscles and ligaments (ligament). Optimal mobility is moving without limitations, with optimal strength, coordination and balance. The better your mobility, the further you can move your bones.
Stability
Stability is about maintaining the correct position (certain body parts, depending on the form of movement) throughout a movement. This requires good cooperation between all parts of our body. If you want to train stability, pay particular attention to the technique of the movement and not to the force with which you perform the movement. When is stability training useful?- Back problems
- Neck complaints and headaches
- To prevent injuries
Core stability
Core stability or trunk stiffness. The torso consists of back, abdomen, buttocks and hip muscles. It is important to create the right stiffness with the torso. Can you create the right stiffness? Then the chance of injuries is significantly reduced. Your performance will also improve. You will make the training environment safer. By having a strong torso, your posture will improve and physical ailments such as back/hip pain will decrease significantly.
How do you improve mobility?
Foam roller
A foam roller reduces adhesions and improves blood circulation in the muscles. This will loosen stiff muscles and increase your mobility. It ensures that your sports performance is improved. Add the foam roller to your warm-up. Roll the muscles you are going to use during the training or if you have a stiff muscle, take it with you even if you are not going to train it. If you ensure that all your muscles are loose, you will achieve better positions during the training itself.Do you experience muscle pain?
Then also use the foam roller. It ensures that the muscles can absorb more oxygen because the blood flows better. Do not expect the pain in the muscle to immediately decrease as a result of rolling.Stretching
By stretching we make a muscle longer. This gives you increased joint mobility. This increased joint mobility increases strength! Do you need help with stretching exercises? We have created useful training videos that can help you get started quickly stretching.
